From 600 Emails to Clear Focus

Monday mornings can be rough sometimes.

We were gone for a longer weekend, and then I sat down on Monday morning trying to get back to work.

When I opened my MacBook, I saw the stack of 600 unopened emails.

Because I was gone, I also didn’t have a clear next step in mind.

The lack of clarity got me overwhelmed.

I knew I had to get back into the work.

So I took a step back.

What is the next task that matters most?

I just get back to my routine.

Let’s get started with my daily Newsletter.

What was a story that happened this weekend?

How does that relate to you?

Then I wrote the Newsletter.

It took me right back to my routine of building my business.

That is the power of the habit stack.

One habit can pull you back in.

There is a second upside.

Writing my Newsletter every morning helps me think of you.

Then I’m getting grounded to do the next thing that will help you, too.

This way I’m not distracted by all the things I could do.

Instead, I’m directed to your next problem.

Trying my best to solve that for you.

This is what pulls me back in on a Monday morning.

How I go from overwhelmed to clarity on what to do next.

It’s those simple habits that make me better in business.

  • Facing the Moment of Decision

We all go through our life with struggles and hope. Dreams and pains. We all make it through our days. Then all of a sudden, something happens. We need to make a decision. It feels like our D-Day. When my son was just 2 months old, I got fired. I understood their decision. I was not the right fit. So I went home. With all that pressure on my back, my son was all happy to see me. He slept so peacefully. I was up at 2 am. What am I going to do next? I was absent, caught in my own thoughts. I…

  • What “passive income” misses entirely

We have so many conversations about passive income. It seems to be the holy grail for some with an online business. A high passive MRR (monthly recurring revenue) is the dream to have all freedom. You can do whatever you want to do. Yet there is an issue with it on two ends. First: there is no passive work.Second: we are made to work. In order to make money — we actually need to do something that offers help to somebody. We don’t make money — we earn it for value exchanged. Anything else…

Hey Reader, Whenever we make a plan, we think of tomorrow.Do you actually know if you have a tomorrow? I have done a lot of thinking on that the last few years. Almost three years ago I lost my mom to cancer. She didn’t get to 55 years of age. We all hear the numbers. The average lifespan is 80 years. But that’s the world’s average. My mom also thought it would be fine. That she had time.Until she didn’t. I was there with her.In those days when she became ready to leave here to go to a much…

  • From Ownership to Stewardship

From Ownership to Stewardship How often have I walked through the world thinking that it all was mine? My things belong to me. It already starts with the young children. They have a hard time sharing their toys. It’s really difficult for them to share. Job says:“God gives. God takes away. Praise the Lord.” For a long time, I didn’t understand how he could say something like that. When I started to work on the Present Provider Concept, I started thinking about the foundation. Why am I trying…

  • Who Not Why

Simon Sinek became known for the idea: “Start with why.” All of a sudden, we were talking about purpose. The question of why started for many the search of reason and purpose. Our why was the starting point for our mission. I love talking about why and your life’s purpose. However, I find that why is not the best place to start. When Frodo took the ring, he acted — not because of purpose, but because of position. He was already in possession of the ring, and he had to do something to help his…

  • Don’t be too good to be true

Hey Reader, Every day I get DMs by people pitching me their service. I’m not a big fan of cold DMs or cold outreach, but there is an even bigger problem ahead. There is another inflation going around. Next to the financial inflation, there is also the offer inflation. I do enjoy most of the content by Alex Hormozi and I have both his books. There is a side effect of the $100M Offers book. Many juniors are starting out and create an offer that is “irresistible.” I agree with Alex Hormozi to…
