How to Strive for Excellence

I like to push myself to test my limits.
Sometimes in the past, I’ve pushed myself too far.

At 22, I almost had a burnout.
I have stomach issues ever since.

So: burnout is not really excellence.

Striving for Excellence is like driving on a three-lane highway.

You shouldn’t drive too fast and lose control
and cross over into oncoming traffic.

But you also shouldn’t drive too slowly
and steer off into the right side by pursuing perfection.

Striving for Excellence has two limits:

Don’t follow perfection. Don’t follow the hustle.

What are the three lanes?
We have:

  • Quantity

  • Quality

  • and Time.

Excellence is achieved when we do one thing often.
It requires mastery.

Excellence is achieved when:

  • You improve from feedback.

  • It’s been moving from good to great.

Excellence is achieved over time.
You can’t rush your way to it.

Striving for excellence is being active.
It’s not achieved passively.
You can’t do it reactively.

It is only through practice — doing what you can, fully.

It also takes deliberate planning.
Sometimes it means taking a step back,
analyzing what you’re doing,
and re-prioritizing.

As this shows, it is about denial.
It means to follow one path boldly,
but also to still take one step at a time.

You’re not in a rush.
Because Excellence, the way I understand it,
is actually never fully achieved.

There is a lifelong striving.
Excellence is achieved when we meet our Creator in heaven.
Then will Excellence meet perfection.

Until that day — it will be fully unfinished.

On the other end, there is the problem too. When I’m with my family, I’m checking my phone, looking at what has been happening in the business. I’m getting pulled between my business and my family. • What 10,000 Hours Gets Wrong

One thing I observed is that mastery is on the other side of repetition.Doing one thing as often as possible. I’ve heard it often that true mastery takes 10,000 hours. Yet that’s only part of the truth. It takes time, that’s true— But it also takes repetition and feedback. In the beginning, every master starts at 0. At the start, they are newbies. When they begin, it’s all about putting their effort in. Doing as much and as often as they can.It is all about quantity. Putting the reps in. Then…

One question is always here:How do I stand out? I want to show that I’m different. There is so much content produced every day that it’s hard to keep up with it all. Yet it’s not coming easy to stand out. The one sure thing we know is: If you do what everybody does — it’s a sure way to blend in with the crowd. There is a trend that I’m seeing. It’s not a new trend.Everybody is only talking about themselves. The major question always is: What’s in it for me? That’s the main attitude most…

  • I Thought I Had It Figured Out, Finally….

I finally have it figured out!So I thought—when I entered the blogging space 4 years ago. It was amazingly simple. I just need to write blog posts on my website and Google will bring traffic to my page. All I need to do is sit and wait for people to rank my articles. A lot of people in the blogging space were making $4,000–$10,000 a month with 100 blog posts on their website. A lot of the income was coming from display ads they placed on their website. 90% of their traffic came from Google….

  • Strive for Effectiveness, not Efficiency

Hey Reader, One thing I’ve seen over the last few years in the productivity field is the hunt for efficiency. It is the idea that when you get things done faster—you will automatically get more done. Let’s take a trip down memory lane: The idea of efficiency stems from the industrial revolution. In factories, it mattered to get more done faster. Thus, the overall productivity rose. The machine could produce more products in less time. When I first got introduced to productivity, I fell in…

Hey Reader, A lot of men want the freedom, the money, the status, the fire.Few are willing to chop the wood. Let me explain. A few days ago I wrote about looking for the easy life.We all have another wish.We all are wishing for our dream life. Yet only a few actually take the first step to ignite the spark of the dream life. Most only wish for the big warm fire.
