Make Your Business a Habit

I used to rearrange my to-do lists at least once a week.

The issue was that I kept planning my perfect week.
I kept making elaborate plans.

This is what productivity has taught me:
I need to plan for efficiency.

But the truth is even more simple than that:

Make building your business a habit.

I write this today as I have just reached a pretty big milestone.
I have published 100 newslettersconsistently.

What was overwhelming in the beginning
now feels like a normal thing to do.

Writing my newsletter is no longer a motivating task,
but rather just a habit of a daily conversation with you.

It’s now a part of my daily loop.

So many people have said to level up your game fast.
I was told to always be on the latest tactics,
the current trends that promise the greatest growth or return on impact.

But in reality —

The simple habits will outgrow all tactics.

Because you will outlast your competition.

The more I think about what I’m doing,
the more I notice:
Growing my business is more about establishing simple habits I can keep up for the long term.

I do less and less in a muscle effort, pushing hard to get going.
I do it more because of a simple habit.

The interesting side effect is what I lead up to:
Since the beginning of writing this newsletter,

I feel like my writing improved.

It’s awesome to see the 1% every day compounding into massive action.

The best thing to grow your business is to make it a habit.

Just find those simple tasks that you can implement today. Make them your daily habit and you will never run out again.

  • Broken Families break Society

Broken Families break Society Broken families lead to broken societies, distant communities, and empty neighborhoods. My brother and I puzzled a lot. We had one puzzle where, in the end, one piece was missing. We puzzled many landscapes to hang them up as pictures on the wall. Once you found the missing piece, no matter how often you looked at the picture, you always noticed this missing piece. There was an empty space. When I think of broken families, I think of this incomplete puzzle. It…

  • Persuasion, Good. Manipulation, Bad.

This is a topic I keep thinking about. I’m yet to fully grasp what it means. We don’t like to be manipulated. It often happens — when I’m on X or other social platforms,I feel like the Sales Bros are always trying to be manipulative. A lot of the strategies behind Persuasion and Manipulation are similar. They are similar to what they do —but we don’t like to be sold to. Yet, it becomes more complicated when we find out someone manipulated us to buy.We feel icky. That’s not nice. So how is…

  • Avoid This Pricing Mistake Now

I sometimes click on ads. It is interesting to see how they are set up. I like to study what they do. On first sight, the ad looked good. The offer is interesting. The price is decent. I always feel the urge to double-check prices. And again: You are being charged $97 upfront and then $497 monthly. There is a price increase by 500% at the end of month one. Again, I found a sneaky price. This is why people get frustrated by online gurus. They are awesome at sales and suck at customer…

  • Declare War on the Hustle

I have to admit something.I love my business and I really enjoy building businesses. That might not be that surprising. The surprising side is that I’m proud of how much I work. 50 hours a week is a good baseline. (I’m actively not counting all things because the shadow schedule is a lot bigger.) I started my business to build for my family, not to run from them. Now I have a business that hides me from my family. When I’m not working, I feel bad about not getting more done. So I get back to…

  • Simple Scales, Fancy Fails

Simple Scales, Fancy Fails This is a saying that has stuck with me for a while now. I don’t remember when I heard it first. It is an excellent reminder. I tend to overthink, overplan, overanalyze, and overdo many things in my life. There is a sense of perfection. It really has to be all prepared. Every detail has to look seamless. It should look cool. For it just to work is not good enough. Since hearing “Fancy Fails, Simple Scales” I keep reminding myself of that. We always keep thinking of…

  • Why Productivity Won’t Make You Successful

Over the last years, I’ve been chasing to become more productive.Trying to get more done.Always chasing to become more efficient. I pushed it to the extreme. You could say I embraced the hustle culture for the glory of God.But then… I never finished my to-do list. I was always feeling rushed. When I took time off for the family,it felt like I was missing out on getting stuff done. It’s a virus of being busy. When we get asked today,“How are you?”How often do we reply:“Busy.” We’ve started…
