Most Men Want the Fire!

Hey Reader,

A lot of men want the freedom, the money, the status, the fire.
Few are willing to chop the wood.

Let me explain.

A few days ago I wrote about looking for the easy life.
We all have another wish.
We all are wishing for our dream life.

Yet only a few actually take the first step to ignite the spark of the dream life.

Most only wish for the big warm fire.

They are looking for the fastest way to get rich.
They are looking for the passive way to get rich.
They look for the controversy that makes them famous.
They play the lottery to get wealthy.
They look for easy ways to display status.

While those are all things you can desire—
they are all things that die as fast as they are ignited.
Those fires don’t last very long.

I love to have a wooden oven in the living room.
They have a great feeling of comfort and so many fond memories.
I love to cook over fire.
That’s why I built a portable outdoor kitchen.

There is one thing that we did every fall:

We went and made some firewood.
We cut down the tree.
We loaded the logs.
We chopped the wood.

That was our recurring task.
There are few joys as fun as seeing the stack of firewood for the fire.
I knew it could keep the fire burning.

Why am I telling you all of this?

Chopping firewood is the task that fuels the fire.
Doing our daily tasks is what fuels the life we want.

Most men want the fire.
Few are willing to chop the wood.

But those few?
They’re building legacies.

As a reminder of that, I will keep retelling this when I’m going forward:
Keep chopping wood.

  • Fix your strategy to gain clarity

I have talked with more than 20 men in my coaching by now. They all dream to grow a business. Yet they all get stuck. They are motivated, they have their reason and are excited to start. Yet they lack the strategy. They want clients. Yet have no offer, no leads, and no conversion. In the end, they are frustrated, confused, and overwhelmed. I know how that feels. I have been there too. It sucks. When we’re in the coaching sessions, I come to bring the strategy to build an offer, get leads, and…

  • The One Thing AI Can’t Replace

We all live now in the age of AI. The way I see it—it’s only the beginning. There are so many ways this can go. The one question I keep wondering about is:How do I set myself apart from AI? How can I still be unique? While I’m not sure there is only one thing to do— I believe the answer is this: Being present. Being present means to be in a room together with full attention. You put your phone down this time. AI can replace many tasks, but it can never replace real human interaction. Yes, it…

  • A side hustle won’t save you!

Hey Reader, When I look around, most men want to start a side hustle to get the business off the ground. I love the idea and motivation they have—to provide for their family and spend more time with them. There is only one flaw on that side:They plan for a side hustle, not for an exit strategy. The numbers tell the difference. Most people starting a side hustle are happy about any money they can make. They start to offer low-price digital products:A template for $20 or an ebook for $8. While…

  • Followers Aren’t Created Equal

I see this so often in the last years:Creators come up. Think all they need to do to make money and drive a brand is to build a big following online. There is the idea that any following is going to make you rich. Your following just needs to be big enough. But the reality is that followers aren’t created equal. I would trade 1,000 followers on Instagram for 1,000 subscribers on YouTube any day. I’d also rather have 1,000 subscribers to my newsletter than 1 million TikTok followers. This is…

  • You Could Doesn’t Mean You Should

Recently, I had another good idea. I always love coming up with new ideas. They feel so nice at first. It’s fun thinking of the simple first steps. It is tempting to jump on that new opportunity right away. You are in a full rush — because you just discovered another gold mine. But the reality is this:Just because you could follow that new idea does not mean you should. In the beginning, there aren’t big charges. But over time, business keeps growing, those charges become more expensive. I…

  • Facing the Moment of Decision

We all go through our life with struggles and hope. Dreams and pains. We all make it through our days. Then all of a sudden, something happens. We need to make a decision. It feels like our D-Day. When my son was just 2 months old, I got fired. I understood their decision. I was not the right fit. So I went home. With all that pressure on my back, my son was all happy to see me. He slept so peacefully. I was up at 2 am. What am I going to do next? I was absent, caught in my own thoughts. I…
