The Effective Man is a Dangerous Man

Hey Reader,

What’s the difference between a dog and a wolf?

You might say one is tamed while the other is a wild animal.
You might say one is a pet and the other is dangerous.

Those are true. But here’s one more interesting observation.

When I was studying wild life, I also studied wolves.
There is a major difference in how a wolf and a dog move.
It is one of the best differentiators for their tracks:

The dog strolls while the wolf strides.

When you observe a dog, he goes from tree to tree.
He stops to sniff. He just strolls along.

Yet when you observe a wolf, he trots.
He stays on a straight path.

When I would ask you: Who of the two is on a mission?
You’d most likely say: The wolf.

Why do we make this conclusion?

Because the wolf acts effective.

The movement is intentional.
It’s not random, it’s not fast, it’s not frantic.

He knows where he wants to go.

The same is true for a man.

As fathers and businessmen, we don’t have time to waste.

That’s what draws me to the idea of productivity.

But in the chase of efficiency, we seem to lose direction.

Trying to move with speed when we should sometimes slow down.

Take a step back. Get clarity. And then decide where to go.

This is what effective men do.

That is what makes us dangerous—because we know where we go.
We know why we go. We know what to do.

We don’t get distracted because we’re on a mission.

That is what sets effective men apart from efficient men.

When I was growing up, I started to dream about my life. One idea that I also pursued was that I wanted to have a family. I knew that I wanted to get married and have kids.I wanted to provide for them and I wanted to spend my time with them. As I got older, reality started to settle in. What I was studying would maybe make some money. It would get us food on the table, but not much more. Maybe if I settled for a career in the field, a company would pay enough at some point. When I met my wife,…

  • Followers Aren’t Created Equal

I see this so often in the last years:Creators come up. Think all they need to do to make money and drive a brand is to build a big following online. There is the idea that any following is going to make you rich. Your following just needs to be big enough. But the reality is that followers aren’t created equal. I would trade 1,000 followers on Instagram for 1,000 subscribers on YouTube any day. I’d also rather have 1,000 subscribers to my newsletter than 1 million TikTok followers. This is…

  • Impact over Income

Impact over Income I see it so often online – People are always looking to make money fast. The focus is to get rich. The longer I’m building my business – It’s been 7 years now – the more I enjoy the art of business. The Art of Business is to understand that Impact is bigger than Income. Income is important, but it is the side effect of Impact. Every business should make our world better. The blacksmith made better tools that the farmer could take on the fields. There was always more impact…

  • You Could Doesn’t Mean You Should

Recently, I had another good idea. I always love coming up with new ideas. They feel so nice at first. It’s fun thinking of the simple first steps. It is tempting to jump on that new opportunity right away. You are in a full rush — because you just discovered another gold mine. But the reality is this:Just because you could follow that new idea does not mean you should. In the beginning, there aren’t big charges. But over time, business keeps growing, those charges become more expensive. I…

  • Don’t do it for the money.

Hey Reader, I know making money is important. You need to make money to run your business. Many people have said it before me: Don’t just do something for the money. Do it for helping the people.Do it for the bigger picture.Do it for the fun.Do it for the curiosity. But don’t do it for the money. Time and time again I observe men starting a business. They heard that Real Estate, eCommerce or Online Courses is where the money is made. Then they get started. Until they quit. I’ve seen it time and…

  • The Trap of Wantrepreneurs

A lot more people want to start a business today. A lot of people dream about the life they are wishing to live. But only a few starts — and even fewer succeed. I’ve been working on my business for the last 8 years. From having the idea, pivoting to a different offer, to learning the required skills—it has taken me a while. The last 5 years I fully committed to the craft. The reality is: starting a business is hard work. I have not been part of the community for a while. It took me a long…
