The Productivity Lie I Believed for 5 Years

For the last few years I’ve read so many productivity books. Watched tons of videos trying to figure out how can I get more done in my 24 hours than others.

This is the core driver of productivity types: Getting more done with the time they have.
It’s all about efficiency.

There is one major flaw with productivity that took me 5 years to understand:
It doesn’t matter how fast I run, if I’m running in the wrong direction.

In the productivity space there is a lot of clutter about tactics that make you faster.

There is little question about the tasks on your to-do list.
I know there is the Eisenhower Matrix — but in reality, it is not enough to categorize.

In my days of following the productivity experts, I was more focused to automate, batch, plan and optimize my schedule than I actually got to work.

There were three major changes for myself:

  1. I stopped looking for perfection and started striving for excellence.
  2. I stopped chasing efficiency and started opting for effectiveness instead.
  3. I stopped optimizing everything before I could be sure it’s the right thing.

The result now is the Revenue Routine.

It helped me actually build a habit stack that grows my business every day.
It means I take my time only for the things that make a difference instead of chasing all the hyped hacks or just checking things off my list.

Hey Reader, Every day that I’m on Twitter/X, I get cold DMs. These guys pitching to get more clients, upgrade my sales, and get more leads. Often it feels like we’re just needing to sell better to sell more. That marketing is just a numbers game to make more money. When I look at the backend of their business, there is one number they don’t like to share: their churn rate. The churn rate is the rate at which clients cancel again. Most of the big sales gurus seem to focus more on getting new…

  • A Morning Routine Won’t Save You

Hey Reader, Recently, a video went viral on TikTok.One Hustle Bro was showing off his morning routine.I’m not sure whether it was his actual morning routine (which I doubt) or if it was just staged. The full routine displayed in the video took him 5.5 hours.Five and a half hours. That’s just insane. You won’t get anything done by doing his morning routine. There has been so much chatter about the different morning routines.Yet nobody asks about the evening routines. To get a good start in the…

  • Simple Scales, Fancy Fails

Simple Scales, Fancy Fails This is a saying that has stuck with me for a while now. I don’t remember when I heard it first. It is an excellent reminder. I tend to overthink, overplan, overanalyze, and overdo many things in my life. There is a sense of perfection. It really has to be all prepared. Every detail has to look seamless. It should look cool. For it just to work is not good enough. Since hearing “Fancy Fails, Simple Scales” I keep reminding myself of that. We always keep thinking of…

  • You Could Doesn’t Mean You Should

Recently, I had another good idea. I always love coming up with new ideas. They feel so nice at first. It’s fun thinking of the simple first steps. It is tempting to jump on that new opportunity right away. You are in a full rush — because you just discovered another gold mine. But the reality is this:Just because you could follow that new idea does not mean you should. In the beginning, there aren’t big charges. But over time, business keeps growing, those charges become more expensive. I…

  • We do it the 100X Way

We do it the 100X Way How many struggle with Perfectionism? I always thought things must be done to 100% completion, yet I seemed to fail every time. The question became: How should we do things? We should do it the 100X Way. Let me explain: First, you have to put as many seeds (ideas, content, etc.) out into the world. This is focused on Quantity. Once the seeds are out – you are in charge to water them and take care of them. This is giving without asking. Just be helpful. None of it has to…

  • More Content Won’t Save a Bad Offer

One thing that comes up in my coaching calls a lot is that people want to just create more content. The client wishes to work more on content.Content creation definitely has a lot of value. I also enjoy it—the work. Yet creating more content only helps when we have a business in the booth. More content is not going to fix your offer problem. I have tried this many times—and it doesn’t work. I have grown a YouTube channel to be monetized to get the clicks to my offer. Because I was so focused…
