The Trap of the Absent Provider

I’m struggling.
My challenge is that I love my family and my business.

I’m a passionate guy… I’m either all in or all out.

I wish to honor God with serving my family, and I wish to honor God with serving my clients.
There seems to be a challenge, though.

I don’t serve my family by being fully present for them.
(On the other side)
I serve my clients best when I’m fully present with them.

I know there’s a lot of chatter on the internet about the lifestyle business and passive income.
This would be great for my family—I could be all there for them.

I have tried to build the lifestyle business with passive income.
I’ve failed at all the attempts.
Trust me, I tried.

When I talk to my clients, they all appreciate that I take my time and that I’m present with them.

It seems to be the situation that I’m either a Present Dad or a Present Entrepreneur.
Which seemed to be the issue: I end up being an Absent Provider.

Now I’m set to figure out how to solve this.

I’m discovering good principles to become a Present Provider.

This is also the ambition I have for the future.

I believe a first step is to stop believing the work/life balance.
I can’t believe in the work/life integration either.

I am building a Digital Family Business.

With the first principle: Block your time of Presence.
When is it client time, and when is it family time?

Make sure to communicate this clearly.

It’s so helpful to set these blocks.
This is one of the lessons I’ve learned as I’m working my way to become a Present Provider.

  • What if it doesn’t work?

How often have you second-guessed yourself? I still do it almost daily. It’s hard sometimes. I’m trying, and I pour it all in. There is still a part of my brain saying:What if it doesn’t work? What if I’m just making a fool out of myself? There are so many little feelings of doubt. The one thing I tell myself — and it’s definitely going to come true — is the truth: When nothing gets done, you will also not get any reward. When the question of what if it doesn’t work? paralyzes me —then it will…

30 before 30 Now that I’m 29 years old – I’m wondering what do I want to do with my next year? What do I want to do before I turn 30? As I have been working on my business to become the Present Provider for my family – I have noticed a trend. Most people set an income goal. So have I in the last years. Now that I have a few years on my back – I realize it is better to focus on Impact. Impact over Income. It is not how much I can get out – it is how much I can give. My goal is to reach 30K…

  • Declare War on the Hustle

I have to admit something.I love my business and I really enjoy building businesses. That might not be that surprising. The surprising side is that I’m proud of how much I work. 50 hours a week is a good baseline. (I’m actively not counting all things because the shadow schedule is a lot bigger.) I started my business to build for my family, not to run from them. Now I have a business that hides me from my family. When I’m not working, I feel bad about not getting more done. So I get back to…

You just learn to cope with challenges better. One big step forward is the process to learn anything quickly so that you can move forward quickly….

  • The No. 1 Skill for All Entrepreneurs

Hey Reader, When I was starting out, my wife said:“You seem to be like you’re on a rollercoaster.” When a video I uploaded performed well — I was excited.I was on top of the world. Another day, I got a bad comment, and the whole day was ruined by insecurity. This continued day in, day out. On extreme days, it was the top of the world in the morning, and the valley of death in the afternoon. This brings me to the most important skill to master: Emotional Resilience. That you don’t take…
