What 10,000 Hours Gets Wrong

One thing I observed is that mastery is on the other side of repetition.
Doing one thing as often as possible.

I’ve heard it often that true mastery takes 10,000 hours.
Yet that’s only part of the truth.
It takes time, that’s true—
But it also takes repetition and feedback.

In the beginning, every master starts at 0.
At the start, they are newbies.

When they begin, it’s all about putting their effort in.
Doing as much and as often as they can.
It is all about quantity.

Putting the reps in.

Then you need to take a break and analyze the quantity served.
These are my seasoned notes now.
I see them if they worked out.
Gather feedback.
So I can get better as well.

Quality can only happen on the back of quantity.

Take massive action to create massive success.
After a while, patterns will emerge.
These patterns will show you the good things.

It takes working for gold.
The gold will stay longer because it’s heavier.
The reality is that all of it will take time.

So the 10,000 don’t come out of nowhere.
They are just showing you that you need to put time and effort in.

Over the years, I have found the equation for Excellence:

Excellence = Quantity × Quality × Time
(Short: E = n × X × t)

Quantity is the X-factor.
Quality is the amount of output.
Time is time.

If you stick with it, there will be results.
You just need to do the work.

That’s the pursuit of Excellence.
It is what will make the difference.

Impact over Income I see it so often online – People are always looking to make money fast. The focus is to get rich. The longer I’m building my business – It’s been 7 years now – the more I enjoy the art of business. The Art of Business is to understand that Impact is bigger than Income. Income is important, but it is the side effect of Impact. Every business should make our world better. The blacksmith made better tools that the farmer could take on the fields. There was always more impact…

When it comes to pricing your offer (product or service), most get nervous. I did too. There is much pressure to get the price right. It also puts an expectation up for our clients. It feels nerve-wracking.Separated from reality. In reality, most entrepreneurs overprice or undercharge. Both of them don’t get you any…

  • Work for Respect, Not Status

There is a massive difference between respect and status. There’s this good ol’ book — Rich Dad, Poor Dad.It was one of my first books I read about business. It introduced me to the idea that: There is a difference between rich and poor that goes beyond money. Over the years, this idea has become more and more nuanced. There are “rich” people that don’t have money, and there are “poor” people that have money. When I started out, I thought: Status = Success = the Wealth Generated. But I learned…
