Why I Started This YouTube Channel: A Legacy Beyond Views

I’ve been on YouTube for quite some years now, publishing around 300 videos across different channels and ideas. But this channel is different. It’s about something deeper—something that goes beyond views, likes, and comments. It’s about building a legacy.

YouTube isn’t just a way to make money or share ideas; it’s a platform that can hold your thoughts, your experiences, and your journey in one place for years to come. This is why, even with just a handful of views and subscribers, this channel is already changing my life.

1. Clarity of Mind

I’ve always been a fan of journaling, of writing down my thoughts to clear my mind. But there’s something uniquely powerful about speaking those thoughts out loud and sharing them with you. Unlike writing in a journal, creating videos on YouTube forces me to be intentional. It’s not just scribbles on a page; it’s a conversation, a relationship. I want to help you avoid the mistakes I’ve made and guide you through the lessons I’ve learned.

The clarity that comes from creating videos is unmatched. When I speak my thoughts and know that someone else might hear them, it sharpens my focus. It’s a level of self-reflection and purpose that journaling alone can’t provide.

2. Staying on Track

YouTube also keeps me accountable. Every day, I wake up with a purpose: to prepare my notes, to plan my content, and to share something meaningful. It’s a daily discipline that improves not just my videos, but my life as a whole.

As a non-native English speaker (my first language is German), these videos push me to practice and improve my language skills. My wife is American, so speaking English well is important to me, and YouTube gives me that daily practice. It’s not just about creating content; it’s about growing and learning in the process.

This channel isn’t my first business—I’m also working on an outdoor adventure business for families. But this channel keeps me focused, keeps me accountable, and helps me share the journey with you.

3. Building a Legacy

The most important reason I’m doing this, though, is for legacy. I want to document my journey, my successes, my failures, and everything in between—not just for me, but for my son. I want him to grow up with a record of what I’ve learned, what I’ve done, and who I was.

My mom passed away a year and a half ago, just six months before my son was born. I wish I had more of her thoughts, her advice, her memories documented. That loss made me realize how important it is to leave something behind, something tangible that my son can look back on.

YouTube allows me to do that. It’s a place where I can share my journey in real-time, where my son can one day watch and understand who I was and what I was trying to do. Even if I’m not around in 50 or 60 years, there will still be a piece of me here, documented and preserved.

Conclusion

This channel is not just about getting the most views or being the best at something. It’s about honesty, about documenting the real journey of building a business, raising a family, and navigating life. If you’ve made it this far, I’m glad you’re here. I’d love to hear your thoughts on building your own legacy—leave a comment below, and let’s chat.

Thank you for being part of this journey.
