Why Productivity Won’t Make You Successful

Over the last years, I’ve been chasing to become more productive.
Trying to get more done.
Always chasing to become more efficient.

I pushed it to the extreme.
You could say I embraced the hustle culture for the glory of God.
But then…

I never finished my to-do list.

I was always feeling rushed.

When I took time off for the family,
it felt like I was missing out on getting stuff done.

It’s a virus of being busy.

When we get asked today,
“How are you?”
How often do we reply:
“Busy.”

We’ve started using “busy” as the measure of how we are.

As I said — I tried to add more and more to my calendar.
I did 10 things faster, but not the 1 thing that actually mattered most.

I was always pushing for a sprint.
My goal was to just get things done as fast as I could,
which made it harder to get anything done that mattered.

Then I found a book
that stated a new way of thinking.

The one question that stuck with me was this:

“What can I do today that will make everything else go away?”

This started a new path of questions and thoughts:

  • What can I cut out of my life?
  • How can I make it simple for me?
  • What is the one thing I have to do — not the many?

I started to say no more,
because I don’t have grace in my calendar for everything.

I had to do what is important,
not just hustle.

You can’t have enough time in your life to do it all.
That’s just reality.

This was the clue I started to get to success —
because I could actually focus on quality over getting busy.

  • Why I’m All In to Help Dads Succeed

Hey Reader, When I was starting out with my first ideas of what to do as a business— I was looking to help troubled teenagers. They felt hurt by the system and had a life of trouble. One idea was to start a farm where they could learn and feel a healthy routine and environment. This idea was undoubtedly expensive. Then I asked myself:What would make the issue go away? When I looked at all the troubled teens, many of them had a pattern. A lot of them had an absent father. This means either:…

  • Done beats Perfect

Done beats Perfect How often have you waited before publishing something? Maybe you have never published anything yet because you thought it’s not good enough. It’s not perfect. I have seen so many people get stuck on the path to building their business. They all get stuck in the Perfection Trap. They think it has to be a masterpiece before anybody else can see it. When in the beginning nobody will see it anyway. Not many people will ever see anything you publish. The few that do – will not…

  • Build the bridge, not just the offer

You don’t sell a product, you’re not creating an offer or doing a service — you’re helping someone transform their lives. They have a problem or pain, and they wish to make a change. Anything we do is there to help them build a bridge. It is the Bridge of Transformation. So whenever we think of something to do or build, we should first understand the Transformation: Where are they coming from? Where are they going? Then we get a deeper understanding of the different options we can build. In…

  • More Content Won’t Save a Bad Offer

One thing that comes up in my coaching calls a lot is that people want to just create more content. The client wishes to work more on content.Content creation definitely has a lot of value. I also enjoy it—the work. Yet creating more content only helps when we have a business in the booth. More content is not going to fix your offer problem. I have tried this many times—and it doesn’t work. I have grown a YouTube channel to be monetized to get the clicks to my offer. Because I was so focused…

  • Why Your To-Do List Might Be Holding You Back

Our to-do list feels endless. There are so many things we could do. Some are more important than others. I recently listened to a podcast. They were chatting about this one guy being paid a lot to be an advisor. Yet he didn’t do much. He said that his job was not to add to the tasks in the business, but to make sure they didn’t do anything that hindered the business profits. I have also experienced the same thing. The real difference between success and failure is to do the right things and…
